1st class cabin

These cabins all had a large amount of luggage space, private washrooms – equipped with real bathtubs – and hot and cold running water. The cost of a 1st class ticket for New York varied considerably; on average, it was greater that 2,500 dollars (43,860 euros today) and reached as high as 4,500 dollars for two suites on deck B (78,950 euros today). The cabin reconstructed here, number B-60, was one of the most luxurious and expensive on the Titanic. It was occupied by Mrs. Helen Baxter, wife of James Baxter, the wealthiest diamond broker in Canada, and by his daughter, Mary, who had reserved it in Cherbourg after a trip to France as a tourist.
